How do I condense 58 years of bizarre life into a brief paragraph... Born and raised in apartheid era South Africa, I came to California 30 years ago. Two marriages, three kids and two grandsons later, here I am. For me, painting and creating are play. I studied art briefly as a teen and did graphic design for approximately 20 years before picking up a brush again. I’ve been at it now for about 10 years. Unsurprisingly, given my background, I deal with PTSD and depression which comes out in my art. It helps somewhat with processing and coping. It’s rare that I plan a painting, usually I just set out to wreck a perfectly clean surface and then well, magic happens. My fondest hope is that my work makes you feel something. I accept commissions.
